The Pine-tree Rows of Tokaido

In Hamamatsu, there has been a large road called Tokaido from ancient times (Old Tokaido).
During the Edo era, cedar and pine trees were planted on both sides of this highway.
Near Maisaka Station, there are still remains of the Old Tokaido.
In 1712, 1,420 pine trees were planted on both sides of the road. During present times, there are 390 pines in a section of about 700 m, so it is possible to get a view of the ancient Japan.
