Hamamatsu Museum of Musical Instruments

In Japan, this is the first public museum dedicated to music. There are 1200 instruments on permanent display from all over the world, arranged by region and theme.

It is possible to listen to instrument sounds with headphones while watching a video. At the museum, there are also brochures available in foreign languages.

Possible to consider as national treasures, there is a 1765-year harpsichord produced by Blanche, pianos from the times when famous composers, such as Beethoven, Schubert, and Chopin, were active, as well as other keyboard instruments from Europe.

There is also an experience room, having on display hand-made instruments or toys that produce sounds, such as bamboo bells from Indonesia or African drums. It is possible to freely play these instruments.
