Bentenjima

This is an island on the north of the estuary of Lake Hamana.
On the south side of the island, there is the red Shinto Gateway. From Bentenjima Beach Park, it is possible to see the figure of the beautiful Shinto gateway.

It is said that it was connected to the land a long time ago, but it became an island because of the sea erosion and because of earthquakes.

The Beach Park overlooks the beautiful Shinto Gateway and the clean waters of Hamana Lake. You can enjoy taking a slow stroll for 500 m toward east or west. Nearby, Bentenjima Onset (Bentenjima hot springs) can be found. Since Bentenjima Beach Park is only a 5-minute walk from JR Bentenjima Station, a lot of people visit this place to enjoy swimming, fishing or shellfish gathering.
