Hamamatsu Science Museum

The museum is divided in six sections according to themes like nature,
outer space, sound, light, and each section has exhibits and hands-on
experiment labs. The planetarium takes you to starlit skies of different
seasons and the mysteries of the universe.

Hamamatsu Castle :
Hamamatsu City
Tokugawa Ieyasu, a shogun who ruled the country, spent his younger
days here. This is why the castle is also called "the Castle
of Success". The castle tower still reminds us of the days in
the Sengoku Era, and its stone walls built by combining rocks of various
sizes are well worth a look. The ruins of the castle are now Hamamatsu
Castle Park, with a statue of Tokugawa Ieyasu. The park is also famous
for its cherry trees. Visit Shouin-tei, a tea ceremony room, and enjoy
green tea tasting.

ACT City Hamamatsu
: Hamamatsu City
A large complex with concert halls, a hotel, convention rooms, a shopping
mall, and restaurants. The 45-story ACT tower is the highest in the
Tokai area and has become an important landmark of the city. Enjoy
the views of Mount Fuji and Southern Alps from the observation deck
on the top floor. |

Kanzanji Hot Spring Resort

Located on the northern coast of Lake Hamana, this well-known resort
area offers a number of accommodations as well as various recreational
facilities, such as Hamamatsu Zoo, the Flower Park, Pal-Pal Amusement
Park. Kanzanji Hot Spring Resort is also a great spot for marine sports
where people of all ages come all year around.

Pal-Pal Amusement Park
: Hamamatsu City
Wide varieties of the latest rides are offered. Adventure-lovers will
love the roller-coasters and the country's longest rafting ride while
young children are sure to enjoy the Ferris wheel and the double-decker
merry-go-around. The cable car ride above Lake Hamana will take you
to the peak of Ohkusa Mountain on the opposite shore.

Fireworks Festivals
Many fireworks festivals are held at Kanzanji
Hot Spring, Bentenjima Hot Spring, and other areas in and outside
Hamamatsu City during the summer. Enjoy bright colors that dramatically
unfold in the dark summer night. |

Hamamatsu Fruit Park
: Hamamatsu City
This fruit farm open for visitors is a new type of recreational facility.
In an area covering 430,000m2, there are orchards, greenhouses,
a tropical dome, and lawn areas and other various facilities, where
you can see, touch, and taste many different kinds of fruit.

Hamamatsu Flower
Park

Within the extensive grounds of the park, you will find gardens with
water fountains, rose gardens, azalea gardens, paths lined with cherry
trees and hydrangeas and more. The greenhouse, the large water fountain,
the restaurant and shopping complex were remodeled in the spring of
2003.

Hamamatsu municipal Zoo
: Hamamatsu City
In this zoo, more than 130 species roam around in large cages. You
can see lions, tigers, giraffes, and even Tamarin, the only golden
lion in Japan.

Hamanako Hands-on Aquarium "WOTTO"

There are twenty water tanks of various sizes, theaters, and experimental
labs. You can even touch some of the fish and learn about Lake Hamana
while having fun.

The pleasure boat connecting Mikkabi-cho and Kanzanji Hot Spring Resort

Air Park : Hamamatsu

In this museum within the Air Self-Defense Force Base, a number of

Hamamatsu Racetrack
The Hamamatsu Racetrack is operated by the City of Hamamatsu.
There are 11 races daily on this 500-meter oval racetrack. Come

Lake Hamana Boat Racing
Lake Hamana is one of the 24 boat racing venues in Japan, and the
spectator stands offer an excellent view of the races.
The facilities resemble a hotel. Even first time spectators can enjoy
the races thanks to staff explanations and talk shows featuring television
personalities.

Tenryu Hamanako Railroad
A historical trolley makes a round trip from Tenryu Futamata Station
to Mikkabi Station once a day. View the spectacular scenery
of the countryside and Lake Hamana from within the spacious cars and
enjoy the beauty of nature. Futamata Station is a great place to visit.
