Hamamatsu is located roughly halfway between Tokyo and Osaka. The city enjoys an abundance of picturesque landscapes with the rolling Akaishi Mountains in the north, Enshu Nada Cost and Nakatajima Dunes in the south, Tenryu River in the east, and Lake Hamana spreading out to the west. The climate is relatively mild with the average winter temperature at around 6°C.
